We’ve got an exciting line up of talent for this month at Root Down. You definitely do not want to miss the live performance by The Lions. They’re a really killer Roots/Soulful Reggae group built from an All Star lineup of Los Angeles based musicians. You also do not want to sleep on DJ Day and Exile rockin 2 MPCs and 2 Turntables. These guys will be choppin and rocking beats, all live with no loops/sequences. We also have Bobo of Cypress Hill and DJ Rhettmatic of the Beat Junkies making a return visit to Root Down. Last time these guys rocked it was crazy, so who knows what they have in store this time. Sure to be some special surprises.

The night is called ESCAPISM and it goes down every 4th Saturday starting September 26th. We’ll be providing an escape from the typical Hollywood club scene so you’ll hear us rockin blends of Hip-Hop, Funk, Latin, Reggae, Rock, & much more. There will be special guests stopping in unannounced, so don’t miss out!! The best part is that there’s no cover, so you can save your money to spend at the bar.

Last weekend I had the pleasure of getting to make my debut over at the Do-Over. It was packed to the brim (as usual) even with Sunset Junction crackin’ that day. Everybody was enjoying tunes of all sorts under the beautiful sun of Los Angeles. The vibe was great! Luckily enough, my white T made it out, free of sangria stains (a rare occurrence). Thanks to everybody that rolled through to hear my set and thanks to all the fans that grabbed a copy of my Funk 45 mix CD.
For those that don’t know, Do-Over is a seasonal summer time celebration in LA that goes down on Sundays outside at a little oasis in Hollywood called Crane’s Tavern. This week at Root Down we got Raashan Ahmad of the Crown City Rockers rockin live on stage to celebrate the release of his new project “Soul Power”. We also got DJ 8-Bits (Get Back / Vegas) sharing some of his favorite tunes outside in the patio area. Of course we got the whole Root Down crew in effect as well: Miles, Loslito, Sloe Poke, Ervin, Jedi, Amani, and yours truly. As a special treat to bring in the summer time, there will be free well drinks from 9pm-10pm.
